Beijing -- The Chinese mainland has reiterated its offer of medical aid to Shaw Hsiao-ling, wife of Taichung Mayor Jason C. Hu in Taiwan, who was seriously wounded in a car accident over a week ago.

"The mainland is willing to provide necessary assistance, including medical assistance, at the request of Shaw's family. We have expressed our concern and wish her a quick recovery," said Li Weiyi, spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, on Wednesday.
