In the autumn of 1922, Mei made his first visit to Hong Kong, bringing famous works such as Guifei Zuijiu ("Concubine Gets Drunk"), enthralling the locals. After the full-scale outbreak of the War Against Japanese Aggression in 1937, Mei settled in Hong Kong and developed a profound connection to this land. To this day, the Mei Lanfang art school continues to be passed down and flourish in Hong Kong.

Nearly 3,000 books published by Beijing agencies, more than 100 cultural and creative products that highlight both Beijing and traditional Chinese culture were also showcased to visitors during the fair.

Visitors saw ancient book restoration techniques, which have been listed as national intangible cultural heritage.

Beijing Municipal Bureau of Press and Publication and Beijing Publishing Group donated books about Beijing culture and Mei's story to the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
