China-built Egyptian railway opens to traffic

After more than a year of construction, the 10th of Ramadan railway, which was built with the participation of China Railway No 5 Engineering Group, successfully opened to traffic on July 3.
The 10th of Ramadan railway project is the first electrified railway in Egypt using Chinese technology and equipment, and is built to Chinese standards.
It has a total length of about 67 kilometers and a maximum operating speed of 120 km/h. There are 11 stations along the line.
Tenth of Ramadan City is an important satellite city of Cairo, the capital of Egypt, and is also the seat of the first industrial zone established by the Egyptian government in the desert area. The railway will become an important link between the urban area of Cairo, the eastern satellite city and the new capital.
The railway will not only greatly shorten travel time for local people, but also reduce transportation costs and improve traffic safety. It has played an important role in promoting local economic development and improving people's living standards, and will also serve as a symbol of goodwill in the Middle East, the Arab world and African countries.
